Volatility returns to the market

Over the last few months we have seen volatility come back into the market, with larger swings both to the upside and downsides of the market.Most of the movement in the markets has been driven by geopolitical events which include the talk of trade wars, where we have seen the US and China impose tariffs on each other's goods. While we are always aware of geopolitical events, we do look past the noise to concern ourselves more closely with the upcoming 2018 Quarter 1 earnings reports – both in the US and in Canada. Truly, this is what will drive the markets.In a few weeks I will be able to give you the fundamental breakdown on how companies are reporting across North America.
